Meet Hanson, also known as Hanny, T-Rex Paw, or Teapot Paw — a whirlwind of cheeky energy with a very special paw. Hanson was born with a birth defect, leaving him with one shortened limb and one tiny claw at the end. But don’t think for a second that it slows him down. In fact, his “strong paw” is his pride and joy, and he uses it like a champion boxer to swipe at toys, tap your arm for attention, and pull things towards him. He is funny, fearless, dramatic and very, very busy.

🖤 Hanson’s rescue story

In 2024, we were contacted by a lady living on a commune about kittens who had been born in a tent. The owners would not surrender the others, but there were concerns that Hanson would not survive on the land due to his paw defect. Born with one tiny claw on a shortened limb, Hanson came to us for the care, safety and support he needed. Like Elan, Hanson’s condition is a birth defect caused during development in the womb. He has never let it stop him. From day one, he has proved he can run, climb, play and cause chaos just as well as any other cat.

🩺 Hanson’s health and care

Hanson’s main known health need is his birth defect and the impact it has on his mobility, confidence and long-term care. Although he manages brilliantly, he still needs a safe environment where his movement, play and comfort can be monitored. Because of the way he uses his body, we keep a close eye on his joints, balance, climbing, landings, energy levels and any signs that he may be overdoing it. Hanson is one of our wonky boys, and while he is incredibly capable, his care is still built around keeping him safe, enriched and supported.

🖤 Hanson today

Hanson is pure mischief wrapped in fur. He makes us laugh every day with his dramatic zoomies, over-the-top pounces and unique “strong paw slam” technique when catching toys. He is affectionate in his own way, sneaking up for quick headbutts, curling up for a power nap, and then immediately dashing off again to cause more chaos.

Hanson loves:
- Sprinting through the house at full speed
- Climbing, leaping and testing his limits
- Sneaky headbutts and quick cuddles before zooming away
- Stealing soft spots in the sun for naps
- Toys he can bap, grab and wrestle with

Hanson does not appreciate:
- Sitting still for too long
- Being told “no” mid-chaos
- Loud or sudden noises that interrupt his games
- Boring days without enough to do

He is cheeky, clever, loving and absolutely full of life.

🏠 Hanson’s future

Hanson is a permanent sanctuary resident and will stay here with us for life. He lives with his bonded wonky boys, known as “The Boys”, where he is safe, loved, understood and surrounded by cats who match his energy, confidence and unique way of moving through the world. Because of his birth defect, mobility needs and big personality, Hanson needs lifelong stability, careful monitoring and an environment that is fully adapted around him. He is settled here, deeply loved, and exactly where he needs to be. For Hanson, sanctuary means safety, enrichment, companionship, freedom to be himself and a life built around his needs.
