🐾 Sponsor Eve’s Care 🐾

Eve is an absolute love bug with a huge heart and a strong grip when she cuddles. She came into our care on Christmas Eve, 23rd December, through Hay Animal Rescue Team. When she was first found, she was very scraggly, with brown discharge around her nose and eyes that initially looked like flu symptoms. She was taken to the vet for a full health check, started on eye drops and closely monitored. Despite appearances, she wasn’t sneezing, and further assessment showed that the marks around her eyes and nose were likely scabbing and scarring from fights, rather than flu. At the time, there were no open spaces elsewhere, so we took Eve in and very quickly realised she needed far more care than originally expected. She settled in like one of our own sanctuary cats, and we made the decision to take full responsibility for her ongoing care.

🧡 Eve’s health journey

Eve tested negative for FIV and FeLV and has had her first vaccination. A spay was planned, but during pre-op checks she was found to be anaemic due to an extremely severe worm infestation, one of the worst we’ve seen in the sanctuary. Since then, Eve’s health needs have become more complex, and she is now in kidney failure. This means she may need ongoing monitoring, veterinary care, medication and/or a special diet as her needs change. Right now, our priority is keeping Eve comfortable, stable and loved, while making decisions based on her quality of life and what is truly best for her.

🖤 Eve today

Despite everything she’s been through, Eve is an extreme love bug.
She adores:
- Head rubs
- Cuddles
- Little love bites and nips
- Wrapping her arms around you and snuggling right in

She is affectionate, people-focused and deeply comforting to be around. She would make a wonderful companion cat for the right person, especially someone who wants a loving, characterful cat to share a calm home with. Eve has not shown herself to be overly friendly with other cats so far and can be quite spicy, so an only-cat home may suit her best.

🏠 Eve’s future

We would really love to see Eve settled in a forever home one day, but it would need to be the right home for her. Because Eve is in kidney failure, any adopter would need to understand that she may need ongoing veterinary care, monitoring, medication and/or a special diet as her needs change. Her comfort, stability and quality of life will always come first. Eve is best suited as a companion cat in a calm, understanding home where she can have plenty of human attention, routine and reassurance.
There may be potential for her to live with another cat, but this would need an experienced owner who understands slow introductions and is fully willing to adapt, separate, or make long-term compromises if the relationship does not work out.
There is no rush for Eve. Until the right person comes along, she is safe, loved and cared for with us. Sanctuary is not a failure for her it is security, safety and love while she receives the care she needs.
