Meet Abigail, lovingly known as Abbie or the Dribble Monster. She is a petite ginger girl with the biggest saucer eyes, the softest heart, and a habit of dribbling little drools of joy when sheās happy or waiting for food. Abigail was found fending for herself outdoors, getting into scraps while trying to survive. Despite her rough start, she has always been friendly, affectionate and people-oriented. Sadly, Abigail tested positive for FeLV, also known as Feline Leukaemia Virus. FeLV affects the immune system, which means she needs an indoor-only life as an only cat, or potentially with another FeLV-positive cat. After an early pregnancy was discovered, Abigail was neutered, fully vaccinated and brought into our care, where she has absolutely blossomed.
š§” Abigail today
Abigail is extremely friendly and affectionate, and she craves companionship. She loves attention, follows her favourite people around like a little shadow, and thrives when she feels safe and cherished.
She is full of gentle quirks:
- Dribbles happily when excited or fussed ā non-medical, just joy
- Loves cuddles, snuggles and being the centre of someoneās world
- Very food motivated, especially for wet food
- Loyal, loving and deeply people-focused
Abigail can be reactive when seeing other cats and does best in a quiet, predictable environment. Quick movements or noisy, chaotic spaces can make her anxious, but with calm reassurance she becomes an incredibly devoted companion.
š Abigailās future
Abigail is safe and loved here for as long as she needs, and she will always have a home with us. However, we would truly love to see her settled in a home of her own one day, where she can receive all the time, love and attention she deserves.
She would need a very specialist home:
- An experienced and understanding owner
- Someone knowledgeable about FeLV and its implications
- Acceptance of ongoing veterinary care and potential costs due to her lowered immune system
- An indoor-only home where she is the only cat, or potentially with another FeLV-positive cat
If that perfect home never comes along, Abigail will remain a permanent part of our sanctuary family and our hearts.
