Meet Oscar, lovingly known as Oscy — our grumpy, growly, very talkative old gentleman with only two teeth and a huge love of food.
Oscar spent over 12 years living as a stray tom, surviving on his “patch” near a busy A road. After years of hardship, fighting, parasites, weight loss, and a heavy lice infestation, he was finally trapped, neutered, treated, and brought into our care. Due to his age and health at the time, returning him to the streets was not an option, and Oscar became part of our sanctuary family.

Oscar is now very settled and continues to surprise us every day.
Though still a nervous, semi-feral boy, he has grown braver and more curious over time. He now ventures into Lauren’s creative space, shows interest in the other cats, makes the cutest little purr noises at them, and has even started playing with the boys when he’s feeling confident. Despite his grumpy reputation, Oscar loooooves to play — especially with teaser toys. Watching him forget himself and pounce is one of our favourite things.
He is full of character:
- A top bap-per if dinner is late
- A growly old man with plenty to say
- Extremely food motivated (impressive with just two teeth!)
- Comforted by routine, familiarity, and calm handling
Fast or sudden movements still worry him, and he prefers gentle head pats on his own terms, but his trust and confidence continue to grow beautifully.
🏠 Oscar’s future
Oscar is safe and deeply loved here, and he will always have a home with us.
That said, we would truly love to see him settled in a home of his own one day.
It would need to be an exceptionally special and understanding home — calm, patient, experienced, and willing to move entirely at Oscar’s pace. Uprooting him would only ever be considered if the situation was truly perfect for him. Until then, Oscar remains a permanent resident of our hearts and our sanctuary.
