SANCTUARY

Karen's Cat Community is partly a sanctuary for cats which need a little more time and care. They are all special in their own way and it may take us a while to find them perfect homes or they could end up staying with us until they cross over rainbow bridge. If you have seen a sanctuary cat you would like to help, here is where you can send money directly to them.  


Our sanctuary cats include:

• Thelma: A 12 year old silver tripod tabby cat. She arrived at Karen's Cat Community April 2021 with her daughter Louise. Thelma has always been friendly towards us and gained confidence quicker then her daughter she began to travel outside the bathroom which encouraged her daughter to do so, as well. Louise was very frightened and had to go through dental surgery so together they stayed in a large bathroom, seeking comfort in one another. Unfortunately, Louise had to be put down after a severe case of cat flu attacked her respiratory system. Thelma waited for her to return in their bathroom. We begun to move Thelma out with our other senior cats but she would always want to return to the empty bathroom, meowing for her daughter. Months have passed and Thelma has now settled in the senior cat lounge. She has a favourite spot on the sofa, meows to be scratched on the spot on her head she can not reach with her stump and loves her food. She is a little grumpy but this can be expected after all she has been through. Due to her history, we have decided to keep Thelma here with us as a Sanctuary cat. Which means she will stay with us until a perfect 100% furever home becomes available; there is no rush. We are not a huge well known rescue, merely a mother and daughter who are passionate about cats. We feel this is the best decision for Thelma but, we are asking for help to fund this sweet girls stay with us. • Dobby: A 3 year old tabby and white male. Dobby is extremely gentle but because he was the smallest of 7 siblings was overlooked. He also had a couple of home fall through when he was a kitten so grew up with the kittens who were adopted by us at the time. As he was comfortable with the three triplets he has stayed with us. Dobby has been sponsored by fans in the past. He seems like part of the family now and, even though he gets on with the other cats, is very loving and deserves a home where he will get more attention. He is still waiting for a home where a slightly older, calmer cat is wanted.
